MID-SPAN SUPPORT POST SYSTEM Repairing unique soil and structural issues in Atlanta, GA.

THE PROBLEM If the floors in your home are sagging or if they bounce when stepped on, this is an indication that the floor joists are not properly supported. This could be because the joists themselves are too small for the distances they span, or because their mid-point supports have sunk or are missing altogether. PRODUCTS FOR REPAIR Mid-span support posts, also commonly called crawlspace stabilizers, are adjustable metal rods that are installed in a crawlspace beneath a house to support under-designed floor framing systems, lift and secure floor framing that has settled over time, and support additional loads imposed by home additions. THE PROCESS We start by excavating a code-compliant engineered footing. Next, we install steel reinforcing bar and pour the footing. After that, the 3-inch steel support columns are cut to length and put in place using top caps that are attached to the framing, bottom plates that are anchored to the footing, and screw adjusters that we will manufacture specifically for your support posts.

THE GOOD NEWS Having mid-span support posts is a great option for reinforcement. They are less expensive and more effective than the block columns used before steel support columns became the industry norm, can hold a load in excess of 40,000 pounds, and do not require shims, meaning they can be infinitely adjusted.
