Soldier Beams
SOLDIER BEAM SYSTEM Repairing unique soil and structural issues in Atlanta, GA.
THE PROBLEM Many homeowners experience foundation problems due in part to this region’s climate. Weather conditions such as hot summers, heavy rainfall, and high humidity, paired with other factors like loosely packed soil structures and poor drainage, can all cause home foundations to settle, expand, shrink, and crack. PRODUCTS FOR REPAIR A soldier beam is a type of support component commonly used in foundation repair. Soldier beams—which are often also called “H” beams—are installed deep into the ground at regular intervals, usually about two to four feet apart. In between each of the soldier beams, horizontals supports known as “lagging” are used to help spread the weight of the load. THE PROCESS We manufacture our own soldier beams at our facility using C5.7.8 steel members, which allows us to ensure that they are of the utmost quality. During installation, we securely bolt them to the framing at the top of the wall and anchor them to the existing floor. To add extra support, we fill any void space between the wall and soldier beams with durable, non-shrink grout.
THE GOOD NEWS Lagging walls constructed with soldier beams are effective support components because they stop all movement from lateral soil pressure and can be installed with minimal disruption to the surrounding area. What’s more, when you partner with us to have soldier beams installed, you’ll also benefit from our life-of-the-structure warranty.
